Who builds it
de:volt is built by an independent developer in Canberra, Australia. There is no product team behind a support queue: the simulation engine, the courses, the documentation, and the support inbox are looked after by the same person. The product is kept small on purpose so that feedback turns into changes quickly.
Where it started
The first version of de:volt was a desktop application written in Pygame. It worked, but it lived on one computer and could only be shared by copying files. That original code is archived unchanged as legacy reference material, and everything after it was rebuilt for the web.
Today de:volt is browser-first: open a tab and there is a breadboard. The simulation is a modified nodal analysis engine that runs live in your browser, so circuits are solved on your own machine the moment you change them, not on a server somewhere else.

de:volt is breadboard-first circuit simulation for learners, educators, and makers. You place real parts on a breadboard, wire them up, and measure what happens, which is how physical electronics is actually learned. Alongside the simulator, de:volt Learn offers structured courses where every lesson checks its objectives against the circuit you have actually built.

Standing on open source
