Legal notices
Last updated: July 11, 2026
These notices explain how de:volt refers to third-party hardware and identify the principal open-source software and firmware distributed with the simulator. Product names are used for identification and interoperability, not to suggest sponsorship or endorsement.
1. Independent product references
- Arduino. Arduino® is a trademark of Arduino S.r.l. The names Arduino UNO R3 and Arduino Nano (classic) identify the genuine boards whose behaviour and pin layouts are simulated. de:volt is not affiliated with, sponsored by, approved by, or endorsed by Arduino. The simulator does not use the Arduino logo in its board artwork.
- BBC micro:bit. BBC and micro:bit names and marks belong to their respective owners, including the BBC and the Micro:bit Educational Foundation. BBC micro:bit V1 identifies the board supported by the simulator. de:volt is an independent product and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, approved by, or endorsed by the BBC or the Micro:bit Educational Foundation. The simulator does not use their logos in its board artwork.
- Raspberry Pi and RP2040. Raspberry Pi and related marks belong to Raspberry Pi Ltd. The simulator presents a generic RP2040 MicroPython Board. References to Raspberry Pi in source and licence records identify upstream software, firmware, or hardware compatibility. de:volt is not affiliated with, sponsored by, approved by, or endorsed by Raspberry Pi Ltd.
All other product names, marks, and registered marks are the property of their respective owners. If you believe a reference should be corrected, contact dev@kapadia.biz.
2. Simulator board artwork
The current Arduino UNO R3, Arduino Nano (classic), BBC micro:bit V1, and RP2040 board illustrations are original, generic de:volt artwork. They omit third-party logos and decorative wordmarks. Connector, button, display, and pin positions are retained where needed to make the educational simulation accurate and usable.
3. MIT-licensed software
The simulator distributes or uses the following MIT-licensed software:
- avr8js 0.21.0, Copyright (c) 2019-2025 Uri Shaked.
- rp2040js 1.3.3, Copyright (c) 2021 Uri Shaked.
- BBC micro:bit MicroPython simulator, Copyright (c) 2022 Damien P. George, Micro:bit Educational Foundation.
- MicroPython, Copyright (c) 2013-2026 Damien P. George for the bundled v1.28.0 RP2040 firmware. The older MicroPython runtime vendored with the BBC micro:bit simulator carries Copyright (c) 2013-2022 Damien P. George. Individual files may name additional copyright holders and some ports include separately licensed components.

5. Firmware and complete records
The bundled RP2040 firmware is the official MicroPython v1.28.0 RPI_PICO build dated April 6, 2026. MicroPython ports can include third-party components under additional licences. The source distribution and its licence tree are available from the MicroPython v1.28.0 source.
File hashes, pinned versions, local modifications, and asset authorship are recorded with the source in de:volt's third-party notices and the README files beside the distributed firmware and artwork.
